Toshiba Hard Drive pretty cheap

PC World have got a Toshiba 1Tb hard drive for £49.99 online (£65 in store). You can only buy two, though! Seems like a pretty good price, cheaper than competitors. How long can it last?

TV

OK so the 75" TV I mentioned before was a little crazy. So how about a more reasonable, £429.98? What can you get for that? a 40", 3D, Samsung TV, with two pairs of glasses and HD Freeview. Not bad eh?

Save Those Pictures

Bit of an electronics storm today. Just got to thinking about storage and portability, making sure you've not only got stuff saved, but can take it where you want. So this is Western Digital's 1TB My Passport portable hard drive. That should do it. Not bad at £69.99. Buy online, pick up in store.

Inevitably, A Tablet

It had to come. Not just a tablet, which are all the rage, but a Blackberry tablet. Seems such a pity if Apple, or Samsung start to corner markets. So Blackberry it is; the 7" 64Gb Playbook.

And whilst looking, I saw this MacAfee anti virus 2013 Plus which is £14 online (£25 in store)

Digital SLR Camera

Thinking about cameras and it isn't long before I'm looking at the current crop. I have a Sony A500 which is absolutely ace so I know the Sony brand for cameras stacks up well. I decided to suggest the a37K though as it is that bit cheaper but has everything a 'standard' photographer would want  As is usual these days it comes with a lens (18-55mm) that is good quality and ideal for landscapes and portraits.

The mount is the same as Minolta cameras used to use, so any autofocus lenses of theirs would work (in case you have a Minolta autofocus film camera). And at 16 megapixels you can expect to be able to enlarge images with little loss of detail. I love cameras.

I've given a link to Curry's as it is competitively priced and you can go in and shout at someone if there is a problem after ordering online!

Girls to Boys

No I haven't found a sex change clinic, but have just been reminded that I have been gearing everything from a male perspective. So if you are a female searching for a gift for a chap, romantic like, then perhaps some Calvin Klein eau de toilette spray. You know it's for blokes because it is called Man.

One for Me

Being intrigued by all things photographic and having some old film cameras, this ceramic mug is perfect for me. I found it by asking the question 'how do I find something unusual?' and saw the find-me-a-gift website. You might like something very different, they stock some rare and strange things.

Quality!!

So, whether you want to be Joey from Friends, or just impress simply everyone this is the thing to have; a pair of leather home cinema chairs. Leather armchairs with a mini fridge built into armrest. Massage and heating controls, plus drink holder that warms or cools your drink. Did I miss anything you need?!

Absolute quality!

Theatre

All the previous talk of special days and I forgot about the Theatre, so here is a link to get you discounted tickets for Lion King.

Mother's Day

Having mentioned Valentine's Day, I should be on the lookout for something for Mother's Day too as it approaches (10th March). If you are not that sure about 'smelly stuff' but think it is the way to go, think quality.

Wandering around TK Maxx is so infuriating, some of the stuff they have is great, some seems the same old tat at the sort of price you would expect to pay anywhere. Buyer beware. They do sometimes have some nice soaps and bath stuff, but again it is not to be relied on to be there next time you look.

So going to online world, I found Crabtree & Evelyn with a nice little combo that could be worth a try; a bath and shower gel and a body lotion. The link is below, but there are plenty of other possibilities on there too.

Advertisers Contagion

We hear about astronomical sums charged and paid for TV adverts during popular programmes, such as the Superbowl or more domestically, Downton Abbey. You understand the dynamics and it is pretty much in tune with the law of supply and demand. But I got thinking the other day about the reverse.

What about bad programmes? Do advertisers recognise there is such a thing? And perhaps even worse, the other adverts. If a perfectly normal product has its advertisement surround by those of the 'legal' conmen such as Payday loans sharks, does that diminish the brand by association? I think it does.

Obviously, Payday loans companies shouldn't exist, preying as they do on the poorest in society, but until we get some politicians who connect with the real world, we are stuck with them. But I do think advertisers should ensure that their adverts are not run anywhere near those of the disreputable. If that causes a problem for TV companies, tough.

Nice Watch

I like watches, can't explain why I just love 'em. The thing for me at the moment (outside the ridiculously expensive stuff) is radio control and solar power. With both of these you know your watch is always absolutely spot on for time (even changing itself for BST/GMT) and also that you will never have to buy a battery for it either.

I don't know about you, but for me, that is the ultimate combination. and I'm a bit of a chronograph lover too. Wondering how to bring all this together sends me looking at Casio and they are also a sponsor of F1 too, in the shape of Championship winning Red Bull.

The one I like is this Edifice model, in black.

Valentines!

OK, so I am the world's worst romantic, but other people pay more attention to this day (and their loved ones, probably). So, what have I seen? Well there is always a plethora of stuff, flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, weekend breaks.

What I thought was, fairly straightforward, but nice, the first two together; flowers and chocolates. And if my house is anything to go by for chocolate, read Cadbury's. Which takes me to Cadbury's Gifts Direct.

There is loads of stuff, but I picked the heart shaped chocolates with a dozen red roses. How can it fail?

Welcome

Hello. This is the first post on the Aginclava blog. I thought it might be useful to have a blog to comment on the quality (or absence) of TV commercials, to talk about products and not least interesting (and well priced stuff) that crops up from time to time.

It could be anything. New TV technology, watches, cameras, handbags, cars, whatever comes to mind. Might be the odd bit of nostalgia too (top tip: Casdon soccer. Blinding game, but make sure it is complete. Should have a ball bearing of a decent size as a ball. If it hasn't, just track one down).

If I see something I think is of interest I'll post a note with a link so you can see for yourself. If you want to bring something to attention, post it in a comment and if it looks good to me, I'll make it up into a post with a link.

Don't forget though, these are just opinions and observations of a private individual and not the result of consumer research or product testing. I just like trawling what is going on in retail, particularly online and wanted to share thoughts.

If a retailer wants to push something, then that is fine too as long as it is a bargain. These will be clearly uploaded as retailers so readers will know. There is no harm in that. But if it is just a so-so priced piece of old kit, it won't make it on; I think a retailer should be just listing stuff that is cheaper than elsewhere (clearing stock or whatever, again, no harm in that. A bargain is a bargain).
